2. Why have you chosen these
levels.
Ok...
Fusion98: My latest level, and my
only level for Quake2. I made it for a UK LAN event caleld Fusion
suprisingly.
3. Which is your least favourite
level, if you think you have one!.
Erm, probably Repressed, a level
I did For RA1. It was total ****
4. What map editor do you use?
Wankcraft, oops, i mean the good
ol' reliable, frequently updated Worldcraft.
5. What level editing tips do
you have for other authors?
Think real, Make strange. But on
a more serious note: I hear a lot of people always going on about r_speeds,
and was once a strict 'r_speed bible' basher meself. But I think
people need to get a bit more exciting in their Quake levels now, they
all seem to be boxy still... even when considering Quake came out in 1996,
and most people have ridiculous spec. machines. Sure I totally agree
with r_speeds and FPS's like SiN, Quake2, Unreal but when it comes to good
ol' Quake, I think people should be cramming a bit more in.
Erm, other tips? Always take
a look around yourself when walking around the mall etc. wouldnt those
stair arrangements make for good RL camping :)...be warned dont carry any
weaponry out in the open around in shopping malls, people tend to get scared
(and youll discover real people dont make gibs).
6. How long have you been making
Quake/Quake 2 maps.
Too bloody long, erm, since QTest1.
I started hacking up the BSP's and adding extra entities to the levels
that came with it, but actually builing my own levels? well I managed to
persuade my mate who was on the net to get hold of an editor called Quest.
I think it was into version 0.7 when I started doing maps...
7. What do you enjoy about making
maps.
Running around inside them after
:)
8. What plans you have for the
future, with map making in mind.
(Say if you got a job in the
industry related to map making).
Well, there is a long story concerning
a certain games company who were interested in me for a while, but I wont
go into that right now. As it turned out I declined the position. So at
the moment Im still going to be at Reading University <UK> studying
electronics. Im doubtful to leave Uni for a games career now, unless
it was really well paid and/or in the lovely USA someplace. Nonetheless
I got a few things planned for my stay at Uni with regards to Levels and
the like, but Im going to keep quiet about that.
9. Which is your favourite game
out of Quake and Quake2 and why?
In a nice list:
Quake:
Likes- Palette, Mulitplayer, QW
Dislikes- Engine, Sounds, GFX...but
only minor quarms about these
Quake2:
Likes- Engine, Single Player, Customisation
Ability
Dislikes- Palette, Multiplayer,
Some GFX <like that crappy HUD>
10. Some self publicity, if you
have a website whats it called and whats it address
Sorry, don't
have one.
