The Lost Junket

Another base style map from Rotpig, but this time it's in the outer reaches of space. The setting is similar to some of the space based UT maps with the floating out in nowhere element. Which basically means if you see an opening that goes out in the deep black, don't go out. You'll probably regret it.
One thing you'll quickly notice is how deceptively good this map is. Wandering around I wasn't too impressed by it but once you start a game you'll be in for a very pleasant surprise.
Its been a while since I've played a map that's been so tense in 1-on-1 and this is down to the maps layout, its so open and you can easily track your opponent from the opposite side of the map.
The layout is symmetrical, sort of crescent shaped, except that the far most points connect. There are 3 floors, the up most of which you'll not visit too often (at least I didn't), even though it contains the maps most beefy armour, the YA. The lowest level is contains some health and rockets, which you can see in the first screen shot. You will however, spend most of your time on the mid-level since this hooks up to the two storerooms containing an RL and GL respectively. It also contains a MH, which is tucked into an alcove on the backside of the map.
Grumbles are that the lifts and doors could be faster. I got cooked a couple of times whilst waiting to get the RL/GL out of the secluded power storage rooms. Also some of the architecture is a little iffy, such as the sharp angled slopes going in the crate room and the odd humming boxes in the said storage rooms.

Against the bots you'll have no problems whatever, but play against someone with some skill and it gets a whole lot better. Honest!
# 3. Yeah, what he said... ^

I've never even played this one against human opposition (or any of the maps i've submitted so far) I agree though, Rpdm9 has a very crap layout. I only made it to see how a spaceship style map would look for quake. I didn't really want to have it reviewed but nevertheless, I am happy with the score!
# 4. Actually... ^

It's a cool map RP, okay the item balance sucks a lot with bots, but the whole design, layout and atmosphere is very fresh inspite of the Idbase textures. That's what I like about it - a conventional style twisted into a whole new vibe.
